Krakow's
Tourist Offices and Their Services
Visitors
to Krakow can pick and choose the city’s various tourist
offices, sometimes situated a stone’s throw away from one
another. They are run either by the Krakow
municipality’s official Festival Bureau or by
private businesses or by tourist organizations. Their staff
speak at least English and offer general tourist information
about Krakow, usually reliable and up-to-date.
Most
of Krakow’s ‘tourist information centers’ also sell guidebooks
and other publications as well as distribute free printed
matter. The vast bulk of maps, leaflets, and brochures
available free of charge consist in adverts but some also
include useful if rudimentary contents (unfortunately, with
editorial prowess not a priority, the complimentary stuff may
often mislead too). At the same time quality maps and guides
cost a few euro. As a rule, private tourist offices offer a
better choice of publications than the municipal network of
information centers whose stocks are restricted to its own
products and little else.
The
Krakow tourist offices usually provide a range of services,
including such as room finding and ticket booking and sale.
Plus they often act as vendors of sightseeing guided
city tours and day trips.
